Saved, Seeking, and the Local ChurchIn 1952 I was saved in a denomination at age eleven, forty-seven years ago. I heard Billy Graham on TV and prayed the next Sunday at the church I was attending. Later some sisters in that denomination were stirred up to seek more of the Lord. A Christian brother was being used by the Lord at that time and in his ministry I touched something of the inner life, something that could not be explained away, something of God's being manifested in the flesh. That was the beginning of a search that would finally lead me to the local church. In 1967 I was in the Navy on an aircraft carrier. I had been seeking more of the Lord for some time. A Christian brother meeting with the local churches came on board. I immediately sensed something of the Spirit about this brother. There was a fragrance of Christ. There was a testimony. Also, he had knowledge of the types of Christ from the Old Testament that I had never heard. Through him, I received several Stream magazines, including one on the ground of the church. Reading the magazine, I saw the truth concerning the church. I immediately sent off for the books by Watchman Nee. They were so much higher than anything I had seen, before or since. This ministry led me to the local church where I have never experienced anything else as rich and deep and satisfying. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Mike Collins | Back to List |
